To serve the business market effectively, service providers need much more than the standard set of local calling features. With a combination of the local calling and business group features supported by MetaSphere, service providers can create compelling service offerings that offer business customers highly attractive alternatives to PBXs and key systems, and that can generate very substantial incremental service revenues.

MetaSphere’s basic business group features are supported on all types of phones - POTS and VoIP - and include features such as Private Dialing Plan, Short Codes, Account Codes, Hunt Group with Agent Login / Logout, Pickup Group, Call Park, and Music-on-Hold.

In addition, MetaSphere supports a wide variety of advanced business features on VoIP business phones from a number of leading vendors. These include Busy Lamp Field / Direct Station Select (BLF/DSS), Shared Line Appearance, one-touch Call Park and Pickup, Push-to-Talk and Paging Groups.

Service providers can configure and manage business group features on behalf of their business customers, but with CommPortal they can empower their business customers with the ability to perform self-service administration. Designated admin users within a business group can manage line assignments, hunt groups, pickup groups, account codes, music-on-hold media and so on through an easy-to-use Web interface - and they can even use CommPortal to program the soft keys on their VoIP business phones.
