Innovation
Innovation. It's an easy word to throw around, especially for startups that didn't exist a couple of years ago. When you've been continually and successfully innovating for more than a quarter century, your track record speaks for itself.
From our earliest days, Metaswitch has introduced innovation after innovation, constantly seeking to push the boundaries of the possible.
In the 1980s, we pioneered the cross-platform network protocol business, leading to nearly every major name in the industry incorporating our SNA and ATM stacks into their products. We continue this tradition with many first-to-market implementations of IP and Optical network protocols.
In the 1990s, we invented application sharing, transforming overnight the IP communications world through the incorporation of our real-time collaboration technology into Microsoft Windows.
More recently, when others were enabling voice over broadband with gateways to legacy switches, we decided to combine broadband voice session control with an access gateway, creating the industry's first true broadband voice platform in 2001. This innovative step ultimately paved the way to Metaswitch's leadership in the worldwide Class 5 VoIP market.
But we do not rest on our laurels. We invest about a third of our revenue in R&D – more than double the industry average. And we continue to think about how we can further simplify communications, adding functionality while converging networks, services and devices.
