Kevin DeNuccio
Chief Executive Officer
Kevin DeNuccio joined Metaswitch in February 2010 after serving for more than a year as an independent board member. He transitioned into the CEO role in order to execute on the company’s long-term strategic plans for global growth based on the timeless core values of quality engineering, reliability, exceptional support and innovation.
From 2001 to 2008, Kevin was president and chief executive officer of Redback Networks, during which time he oversaw its transformation into a major edge router vendor and acquisition by Ericsson for $2.1 billion. Prior to leading Redback Networks, he was the senior vice president of worldwide service provider operations at Cisco Systems. In this role, he was responsible for all field activities in the service provider marketplace, a business he grew from $500 million to $4 billion in revenue with over 4,000 employees globally. During his tenure at Cisco, Kevin also managed worldwide field operations, including all sales and engineering support organizations.
Prior to joining Cisco, Kevin was the founder, president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic Network Integration, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon Communications), with responsibility for corporate strategy and operations. He has also held senior management positions at both Unisys Corporation and Wang Laboratories as vice president in their network integration and worldwide channel partner businesses.
Kevin received his finance degree from Northeastern University and is a graduate of the MBA program at Columbia University.

Tom Cronan

Carol Copland
Chief Legal Officer
Carol Copland joined Metaswitch in October 2009.

Chris joined Metaswitch as one of the founding team in 1981. Prior to this, he acquired a degree in Computing from Cambridge University and worked for IBM on mainframe and communications systems software.

Next, he was responsible for the creation and development of our successful real time conferencing business. In 1995 this led to a strategic relationship to provide Microsoft with core technology for NetMeeting (Microsoft's entry into the data conferencing space). Chris also oversaw the company's product strategy for messaging and conferencing solutions, targeted at a broad spectrum of service providers, and later served as Chief Technical Officer with responsibility for product management and long-term technology strategy.
In his current role, Chris adds his fascination and enthusiasm for technology and business innovation to his years of experience working closely with partners and customers, in the pursuit of breakthrough solutions that change the ways we communicate.
Outside work, Chris splits his time between running a charity to develop assistive technology for the disabled (enlightened self-interest as he is himself blind) and water skiing for the British disabled team which he has led to three world championship titles.

Martin Taylor

Martin Taylor has spent over 20 years in the telecom and network equipment industries, with diverse experience in product marketing, engineering, technology planning and business development. Since joining Metaswitch in 2004, he has been responsible for developing the company's IMS technology strategy and has also led key technology initiatives in hosted VoIP services, Web Services interfaces and Web portal evolution.
Martin's prior experience includes the role of founding CTO at CopperCom, where he was widely recognized as an early pioneer in Voice Over Broadband for his leadership of the ATM Forum standards work on Loop Emulation. In previous roles at Madge Networks and at Marconi, he was instrumental in significant business successes in areas such as Token Ring switching and passive optical networking.
Martin is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, England with a degree in Engineering. He enjoys skiing, golf, fly fishing and fine wine.

Graeme MacArthur

Graeme continues his passion of building a customer-centric organization that he demonstrated as leader of the company's Internet Applications Division, a position he held from 2000 until the merger of the softswitching and applications divisions in 2007. In that role, he transformed a technology-oriented business unit into an industry leader in telecom applications, in the process establishing relationships with many of the world's largest service providers.
Graeme joined the company in 1985 after gaining a BSc in Computer Science from Glasgow University. Similar to the majority of the company's senior management team, Graeme worked his way through engineering and customer support roles on the way to establishing himself as a world-class business leader.
Outside of work, Graeme is a passionate golfer and enjoys living within easy driving distance of some of Scotland's most glorious links courses, including Carnoustie and St. Andrews.

General Manager, Network Technologies Division
Clive graduated from Cambridge University with a First Class honours degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 1981. After graduating, he worked as an 8-bit assembler systems programmer for microcomputer manufacturers - and can still remember many 6502 and Z80 opcodes.
He joined the company in 1984, and has spent most of his time in the Enterprise Connectivity business, during which time the business has become both technical and market leaders in its space. He is now General Manager of the Network Technologies Division.
Outside of work, Clive is involved in local education, and enjoys skiing and mountain walking.

Stephen Halstead
Group Finance Director
Stephen joined Metaswitch in 2009, having spent the previous 19 years in a variety of operational and financial roles. He has spent the last 10 years in high growth telecommunications and internet businesses in both public and privately-held companies. Most recently, as co-founder of Heart Telecom Ltd, he established one of the UK's most innovative B2B service providers. There he built on his prior experience as director of operations and finance at Toucan Telecom where he played a key role in the company's acquisition by Pipex, having made a major contribution to building the company from start-up to over £50 million annual turnover in four years. Previously Stephen was the CFO of Host Europe Plc, an AIM-listed internet hosting company, which survived the dotcom boom and bust to become the UK's leading SME web hosting provider.
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and is a graduate of Cambridge University, England with a degree in Engineering. His interests are family orientated and, when time allows, running, golf and skiing.

John Palombo
Senior Vice President, International Development
John Palombo first joined Metaswitch in January 1983, as a pre-university intern. He then went on to complete a Masters degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University before joining full time in October 1986.
Over the last twenty plus years, John has played a wide ranging role as both an engineering manager and as a business generator. In particular, during the 90's, he was the driving force behind a number of highly successful ventures, including the conception, development and support of Metaswitch's ATM, MPLS and SS7 portable software product suites now in use by hundreds of deployed products from many different companies.
John was a member of the team that originally led Metaswitch into carrier systems and for more than two years was the VP of Engineering. He then went on to manage the worldwide carrier customer support and professional services organization for five years, leveraging both his deep technical knowledge and his experience working with customers.
John is now responsible for Metaswitch's International Development team, developing products and providing customer support for customers around the world.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing squash and racketball and making things out of metal.

Simon Williams

Most recently the CTO of Ericsson’s IP and Broadband Division, Simon brings to Metaswitch a wealth of senior level experience in areas ranging from sales management to product strategy.

Paul Drew

Paul Drew has been with Metaswitch for nearly 18 years, and currently runs all support for the Carrier Systems Division. Paul was a member of the team that founded the Metaswitch Carrier Systems Division and has fulfilled a number of different roles, including running support for our strategic customers, establishing the professional services and training groups, director of product management with responsibility for setting product direction, and setting up and running the Metaswitch partner program.
Paul graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Mathematics and an MSc in Statistics. When not at work, Paul spends his time climbing, mountain biking and skiing.

He built the North American sales team for Corvis Corporation, leading to their successful IPO. Michael also played a key role in the success of Ascend Communications, both before and after its acquisition by Lucent Technologies. There, he drove an emerging service provider business that resulted in over $1billion in annual sales.
Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida. He enjoys competitive sports and activities and spending time with his wife and four young kids when home.

As one of the small group of talented engineers that designed the Metaswitch system architecture, Dave combines detailed product knowledge with rigorous project management skills. His engineering and management abilities have been proven over his 15+ years with the company, as he has consistently delivered complex, challenging projects across a broad range of telecommunications technologies including SS7, SMTP, LDAP/X.500, and SNA.
Dave graduated with a first class degree in Engineering from Cambridge University.
Outside of work, Dave competes in both mountain bike and sail-boat races, and somehow manages to find time to relax by snowboarding, unicycling - and gardening.

Steve Gleave
Vice President, Marketing
Steve joined Metaswitch in the fall of 2009, bringing more than 20 years of experience selling, supporting and marketing voice and communication products. Born in the UK, Steve graduated from Bristol University in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has lived and worked in the USA since 1996. He has a young family, watches and plays just about every sport, has an unhealthy addiction to American Idol and is aiming to run 10 marathons in the next ten years.

Born in the UK, Steve graduated from Bristol University in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has lived and worked in the USA since 1996. He has a young family, watches and plays just about every sport, has an unhealthy addiction to American Idol and is aiming to run 10 marathons in the next ten years.

Ben Miller
Vice President, Operations
Ben joined Metaswitch in 1995, after graduating from Oxford University with an MA in mathematics. Beginning his career as a software engineer, he has played a variety of roles across the company's divisions. Most recently he led the team that successfully established MetaSphere as the pre-eminent applications platform for tier one service providers, gaining deployments at four of the five largest North American carriers.
Prior to this Ben was vice president of sales and marketing for the company's Network Technologies Division, and was instrumental in positioning us as the only source for protocol software for optical networking, as well as growing the VoIP protocol market. In this role Ben developed strategic relationships with the key networking equipment manufacturers in Israel, China and Japan, significantly expanding the company's global business reach.
Ben has three young children who keep him very busy, and in any spare time he is involved in many activities in his local community.
