Fujitsu and MetaSwitch Deliver on the Managed UC Services Promise at Broadband World Forum 2009
Partners Demonstrate Simplified Adoption of Latest VoIP and UC Capabilities
Paris, France: September 7, 2009 —
Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited, a leading supplier of network solutions, announces a joint initiative
with MetaSwitch to demonstrate the latest in Managed Unified Communications (UC) capabilities. The solution being
jointly demonstrated in Paris this week delivers on the promise of enhanced productivity and cost savings, through
its feature-rich MetaSphere applications suite allied with the powerful CommPortal subscriber interface.
Based on a proposition as a Fujitsu-hosted Managed Services offering in the UK and Europe, or as a turnkey
carrier systems solution, the MetaSphere suite of hosted VoIP applications gives enterprise and service provider
customers alike the competitive advantages required to succeed in today's business environment. Aligned to a wider
managed desktop solution, where Fujitsu provide all aspects of hardware and applications service integration,
Unified Communications provides the flexibility of advanced applications working with existing desktop, phone and
business productivity systems.
For enterprises, the ability to control where and how calls are received, whether on a mobile device, PC-based
softphone, or fixed-line IP phone, ensures that VIP callers are prioritized and every employee is reachable, using
the same number, whether they are in the office or on the road. In addition, rich unified communications
capabilities provide for multi-screen access to messaging and calling features, including advanced voicemail and
fax handling options, Microsoft Outlook/email integration, and the ability to view messages and control calls from
any device -- from PCs to SIP or mobile phones.
Carriers will value the minimal lead-time to revenue generation, thanks to a range of deployment options. A
whole range of access technologies can connect business customers to the service, from desktop IP phones and
PABX systems to IMS compliant network products, such as Fujitsu’s MSAN. The award-winning MetaSphere applications
suite provides enormous scope for service and applications development, where the operator can use an SDK to create
new features. The MetaView management system is an important operational tool that provides an unparalleled
insight into their IP-based voice network, alerting to issues such as voice quality degradation, and enabling
resolution, even before subscribers are impacted.
Commenting on behalf of Fujitsu, Nigel Garnham - Head of Proposition Development, said: "With this showcase
of the latest features and technologies, we are highlighting our longstanding and successful partnership with
MetaSwitch. Our proposition shows depth of features and scalability in deployment to benefit businesses of all
sizes. Coupled with our managed desktop propositions, this positions Fujitsu as a leader in flexible, open
standards, technology and as a key partner for operators and enterprises throughout Europe."
Graeme MacArthur, General Manager, Carrier Systems Division at MetaSwitch, expanded: "Fujitsu Telecommunications
Europe is a valued partner for us as we expand our business internationally. We are excited to be demonstrating
our latest solutions together at Broadband World Forum."
The MetaSwitch-Fujitsu Managed UC Services solution will be on display at Stand No. 563, at Broadband World Forum
Europe, CNIT La Défense, Paris, 7-9 September.
