Metaswitch Takes Session Border Controller to SIPit 26
Metaswitch's Session Border Controller and SIP network software products tested at latest SIP Forum interoperability event in Stockholm
London, UK, June 10, 2010 —
Metaswitch, the world's leading independent provider of network technologies, today announced its successful
participation in SIPit 26, the twenty-sixth SIP interoperability test (SIPit) event organized by the SIP
Forum (http://www.sipforum.org) and hosted in Stockholm by Edvina and TANDBERG.
The SIPit 26 event provided a technically intensive atmosphere where the thirty-one vendor participants could look
at a range of interoperability test scenarios, ranging from peer-to-peer tests to complex multi-party tests, with
SIP and IMS focused devices. Notably at this event, many vendors participated in video and conferencing
test scenarios, reflecting the increasing importance of video and conferencing in corporate Session Border
Controller and SIP deployments.
Conducted by the SIP Forum twice a year, SIPits are the world's premier interoperability testing events
for the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), bringing together the leading SIP application developers,
service providers and IP communications equipment manufacturers to ensure their SIP implementations
work seamlessly together in an IP network testing environment.
Metaswitch, a regular participant in SIPit events, tested at SIPit 26 with both its DC-SBC
and DC-SIP solutions. DC-SBC is a fully portable
session border controller software solution designed for system
vendors and DC-SIP is a portable source code implementation of the SIP protocol. Both DC-SBC and DC-SIP were
successfully tested with many of the participating vendors at the event. DC-SBC was also tested in
other IP network topologies including IMS scenarios, where it successfully performed as a
P-CSCF, IBCF, BGF, and I-BGF.
"The SIPit events are really useful in proving industry interoperability," said Clive Partridge, General
Manager of Metaswitch's Network Technologies Division. "Our test team can concentrate on the technical
details of each test scenario in an open and cooperative multi-vendor environment, with real benefits for the
interoperability of our DC-SBC and DC-SIP products."
More on DC-SBC
DC-SBC is the industry's first software-based, fully portable session border controller solution developed
exclusively for system vendors. Metaswitch's DC-SBC solution enables vendors to enhance their existing and new
products with full, carrier-grade session border controller functionality, with massive savings in time-to-market
and engineering costs. Metaswitch’s "Session Border Controllers in IMS" white
paper describes how DC-SBC may be deployed in an IMS environment.
More on DC-SIP
DC-SIP is used by many of the world's largest manufacturers of VoIP/Multimedia equipment and is enhanced to allow
speedy assimilation into IMS environments. These enhancements include IPv6 functionality, signaling compression (SigComp),
ENUM, session timers, and support for IPSec, AKA, and IMS-specific SIP headers. This functionality enables DC-SIP
to be utilized in all SIP-based IMS applications, including Application Server, CSCF, Gateway and User Elements.
