MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next-generation carrier switching and application solutions, announced today
that it is part of a select group of industry leaders forming a key new industry alliance to enhance the
quality, performance and reliability of voice and video over IP (V2oIP) services.
With a market expected
to reach over $8 billion in revenue by 2008, addressing these issues early on is critical.
The V2oIP Quality Alliance, unveiled at the Fall VON Conference,
defines two major goals for the group of members:
- To advance the adoption of V2oIP and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by defining
and disseminating industry best practices related to V2oIP quality, reliability and performance.
- To define requirements for network readiness, pre-deployment testing, in-service monitoring
and troubleshooting, SLA definition and monitoring, and technologies for mitigating problems and
enhancing voice quality.
With years of experience enabling carriers to migrate to packet-based networks,
MetaSwitch is well positioned to play a key role in the success of this latest initiative.
