Data Connection Ltd. Advances Interoperability by Participating in IMS Plugfest III Interoperability Event
London, UK: October 29, 2007. Data Connection Ltd. (DCL), the world's leading independent
provider of communications protocol software, announced today that it has successfully participated in the
IMS Forum®'s IMS PlugfestTM III interoperability test event
which was held on October 15-19 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab in Durham, NH.
DCL was represented with its IMS-enabled DC-SBC product, which is a portable software solution for
session border control that includes full P-CSCF, IBCF, and BGF/I-BGF IMS functions.
"Data Connection's extremely successful DC-SBC solution provides the fundamental components
of the IMS control layer. The interoperation of DC-SBC with products from the other participants
of the IMS Plugfest demonstrates the fixed mobile convergence, security, and revenue generating capabilities
of IMS," said Phil McConnell, CEO of DCL's Networking Protocols Division. "These events
are an invaluable platform for making the promise of IMS a reality."
Data Connection's DC-SBC software solution, which is licensed to a number of network equipment providers
to enable session border control and IMS functionality, operated as a P-CSCF and IBCF for testing of
IMS registration and call scenarios, in both interdomain and carrier's carrier network environments.
The IMS Forum's IMS Plugfest III is the third in a series of open testing events that are designed
to foster interoperability by establishing an industry-recognized Interoperability certification for
IMS services and applications. The Plugfest testing events are creating industry-recognized
interoperability test plans for IMS applications and services, allowing service providers to expedite
IMS service rollout.
"Data Connection is a premier player in the IMS space and has provided significant contributions
to both Plugfests it has attended," said Michael Khalilian, IMS Forum Chairman & President of the
IMS Forum. "The P-CSCF and IBCF components Data Connection brought to the table play an important role
in IMS functionality - we are pleased to have Data Connection participate once again."
The first two Plugfests validated a multi-vendors IMS architecture capable of supporting a
250,000-subscriber network and tested IMS rich multimedia applications, fixed mobile convergence (FMC)
functionality, and IM, VoIP, IP Centrex, SMS, voicemail, video sharing and advertiser-supported services.
Plugfest III adds the following applications and services:
- VoIP, Instant Messaging, and FMC
- Video and Multimedia
- Services for Businesses and Unified Communications
- User and Application Profile Handling
- Security, Reliability and Robustness Testing for IMS Services
