Data Connection Collaborates with UNH-IOL to Develop IS-IS Routing Test Suite
London, UK: November 2, 2004. Data Connection Limited (DCL), the world's leading provider of
communications protocol software, today announced successful collaboration with the University of
New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in the lab's development of its first Intermediate
System to Intermediate System (IS-IS) routing test suite.
DC-ISIS is a fully portable, source code solution that implements full mandatory IS-IS protocol
support, including ISO 10589 and RFC 1195. DC-ISIS fits into the same architectural framework as
DCL's other IP Routing protocol products (including DC-OSPF and DC-BGP) and can be easily integrated
with DC-MPLS to provide a complete control plane solution for TE routers, or can be used on its own
or with third-party products. With a rich history of routing and communication protocol expertise,
Data Connection was a natural partner for UNH-IOL. Founded in 1981, Data Connection has developed
portable routing code for a wide range of technologies for over 20 years.
The UNH-IOL, one of the networking industry's leading third-party test and evaluation
organizations, utilized Data Connection's DC-ISIS routing software and world-class support
organization to develop the test suite. The UNH-IOL is using the IS-IS test suite to offer
interoperability and standards conformance testing to the industry at large via membership within
its IP Routing Consortium.
"Whenever possible, UNH-IOL works with our consortium members to deliver test cases
that are most applicable to the service provider and vendor communities," said Kari Revier,
UNH-IOL IP Routing Consortium manager. "The significant contributions we received from
Data Connection were key factors in the development of our IS-IS test suite." In conjunction
with the development of the test, Data Connection was also the first member of the IP Routing
Consortium to have products tested using the new suite.
"Data Connection has a long history of developing routing protocols and part of that
history includes testing at UNH-IOL. We have been members of the UNH lab since 1996, and were
more than happy to share our routing experiences with them to assist in developing a test suite
that will encourage standards compliance and compatibility within the industry," said Matthew
Finlayson, VP of Development and Requirements for Data Connection's Protocol Software.
