Press Release

Data Connection showcases new release of MeetingServer web conferencing at Supercomm - adds Web Video, Recording and Integrated Audio Roster

Supercomm, Chicago, IL, and London, UK: 21 June, 2004. Data Connection Ltd (DCL) today announced version 3.0 of its MeetingServer web conferencing solution. The new release, on demonstration at Supercomm this week, adds webcam video support, conference recording, and tight integration with audio bridges, making it a one-stop solution for Service Providers wishing to provide integrated data, voice and video conferencing.

MeetingServer's web conferencing facilities include application sharing, presentations, text chat, whiteboarding, polling/voting, and - new in this release - video support, giving presenters the option to share their web cam feeds into the meeting.

MeetingServer is pre-integrated with audio bridge equipment from a number of third-party vendors. This enables the integrated roster feature, which combines the participant lists from both web and audio conferences into a single, intuitive pane in the PC user interface. From here, moderators can view and control participants' status, or initiate phone calls directly from the PC desktop using click-to-call technology.

Web conferences can be recorded, including the audio. Recordings are stored in Windows Media Format to make them accessible to a wide audience.

Andy Nilssen, Senior Analyst and Partner at Wainhouse Research, welcomes the new features in this release. "Service Providers will find that by using MeetingServer's integrated roster, their customers can easily control both audio and web portions of a conference, and ease-of-use translates into increased take-up. The ability to record and subsequently stream meetings is increasingly important for a wide range of applications, and video support enhances the overall conferencing experience. Data Connection has successfully implemented these features while retaining MeetingServer's intuitive look-and-feel and renowned scalability."

MeetingServer is widely licensed by Service Providers including British Telecom and France Telecom, and OEMed by equipment vendors and conferencing providers such as Cisco (Latitude).
