Data Connection Participates in Global SIP Interoperability Test Event, SIPit 16

SIPit 16 Advances Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Technology

London, UK: April 15, 2005. Data Connection Limited (DCL), the world's leading independent provider of communications protocol software, announced today its participation in SIPit 16, the sixteenth SIP interoperability test event organized by the SIP Forum (www.sipforum.org).

SIPits, Session Initiation Protocol Interoperability Tests, are week-long events that enable companies with SIP implementations to come together and ensure their different implementations are compatible. The goal of the events is to refine both the protocol and its implementations. The SIPits, held twice a year, are a driving force shaping SIP into a protocol that interoperates globally for real time Internet communication services.

The latest sessions have extended to include testing of SIP with multiple media streams including voice, video, instant messaging, and email.

Data Connection successfully tested its DC-SIP solution with a variety of SIP proxies, servers, registrars, IP phones, softphones, gateways, and B2BUAs.

SIPits are becoming increasingly popular. This latest event, which took place this week in Banff, Canada, had over 50 participating companies. Tim Hall, Data Connection's VP of Network Protocols, agrees, "We are seeing more and more prospects for our DC-SIP solution asking us if we participate in the SIPit events. There is a tremendous value in proving interoperability with this many vendors and that's why we've been involved since our SIP solution started shipping in 2001."
