Data Connection software demonstrated by Ciena, Chiaro, Native Networks, NEC and Quarry at SUPERCOMM 2004

Data Connection's IP Routing and MPLS solutions employed in the ISOCORE, MPLS and Frame Relay Alliance / MSF and OIF demos at SUPERCOMM 2004

London, UK: June 16, 2004. Data Connection Limited (DCL), the world's leading provider of communications protocol software, today announced that its carrier-grade IP Routing and MPLS source-code solutions are being employed within products being demonstrated by OEM customers at SUPERCOMM 2004. The Data Connection customers demonstrating at SUPERCOMM 2004 include CIENA, Chiaro Networks, Native Networks, NEC, Quarry and others. They are participating, supported by Data Connection, in a variety of interoperability demonstrations organized by ISOCORE, by the MPLS and Frame Relay Alliance / Multiservice Switching Forum (MSF) and by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF).

"We are delighted that so many of our customers are participating in the demos at SUPERCOMM," said Phil McConnell, CEO of Data Connection. "It is important that the industry is able to show IP Routing and MPLS interoperability across such a wide range of hardware and deployment scenarios."

"CIENA has a long history of working with Data Connection to aid in our efforts of driving standards-based interoperability with industry organizations," said Joe Berthold, Vice President of Network Architecture at CIENA. "With excellent support from Data Connection, we're working to help our customers build more profitable service models for a new generation of revenue-rich services."

"We have been working with Data Connection for several years now, and their high quality products and expert support have been an important factor in our product plans, and in our participation in the SUPERCOMM demo," said Elliot Gerberg, Chiaro's Vice President of Engineering.

"We have been extremely pleased with the rapid and easy integration of Data Connection's software," said Raphi Hess, Vice President of R&D at Native Networks. "The high quality of Data Connection's signaling products and comprehensive technical support have been critical to our participation in the demo."

"High quality and resilience are vital for a carrier-grade offering," said Shinya Nakamura, Senior Manager of NEC's Network Platform Development Division. "Data Connection's products have played a critical role in allowing us to guarantee these."

"We have been working with Data Connection for a number of years, and have been very happy with the extremely responsive support services they have provided to us at every stage of the product development cycle," said Zbigniew Opalka, Vice President of Engineering, Quarry Technologies. "We are delighted to be demonstrating our iQ-series Security Service Routers in the Isocore showcase."

Data Connection's IP Routing and MPLS protocol products (which includes DC-OSPF, DC-ISIS, DC-RIP, DC-BGP, DC-MPLS and DC-VPN Manager) can be integrated to provide a complete control plane solution for PE routers, or can be used on their own or with third-party products. This includes full solutions for

  • 2547 MPLS/BGP VPNs
  • layer 2 VPN applications such as VPLS and VPWS
  • optical signaling and routing using GMPLS, OIF UNI or NNI.

All these software solutions are being demonstrated at SUPERCOMM.

All Data Connection's protocol products operate within Data Connection's unique "N-BASE" environment, which provides portability, scalability, and performance, at the very highest levels of resilience and availability as demanded by the leading carriers. The N-BASE has been proven in a wide range of networking devices for over 10 years and allows Data Connection's software to be used on VxWorks, Linux, OSE, Nucleus, Integrity, pSOS, UNIX, Solaris and many other operating systems. The N-BASE environment also supports easy distribution of components over multiple threads, processes or processors, where extreme scalability or redundancy is necessary.
