Press Release
VoiceGenie and Data Connection offer Service Providers VoiceXML-based Unified Messaging solution on commodity hardware
Toronto, Canada / London, UK: July 21, 2004. VoiceGenie Technologies, the world's leading provider of
VoiceXML platforms and open communications solutions for next-generation customer care, and Data Connection,
one of the world's premier developers and suppliers of messaging, conferencing and communications solutions,
today announced their co-marketing and technology partnership. Offering NeXusPointTM,
VoiceGenie's flexible, VoiceXML-based framework, alongside Data Connection's MailNGen next-generation messaging solution,
the two companies reported that extensive testing of the joint offering has been successfully concluded.
Running on readily available commodity hardware, the joint solution gives Service Providers the option to deploy
a fault-tolerant voicemail or unified messaging solution without capital expenditure on dedicated hardware.
"VoiceXML is the standard of choice for next-generation Telephony User Interfaces because of the flexibility
it offers to users," said John Palombo, VP Sales, Internet Applications at Data Connection. "With NeXusPoint,
VoiceGenie provides an industry-leading VoiceXML platform including many advanced features, making it an ideal addition
for our MailNGen solution."
MailNGen is a flexible, modular multimedia messaging solution, allowing Service Providers to deploy a range of
voicemail, email, webmail and fax message services through a single mailbox universally accessible from the phone
or the desktop. By enabling mailbox access using VoIP and HTTP, in a scalable IP-distributed architecture,
MailNGen truly offers messaging for next-generation networks.
NeXusPoint is an open, VoiceXML-based framework for the development, deployment and hosting of sophisticated speech
or touch-tone services. Engineered in a completely open standards-based architecture, it supports all leading
ASR and TTS engines and allows users to choose from various fully integrated turnkey packages. With its
feature-rich and robust design, it fits any type or size of business, readily supporting deployments ranging in size
from single-server, 4-port systems to deployments scaling up to thousands of ports.
"We're excited to be working with Data Connection, because of its well-deserved reputation for providing
high-quality, scalable products with exceptional customer support," said Frank Tersigni, VP of Channels and
Business Development. "The MailNGen solution, in conjunction with VoiceGenie's NeXusPoint framework,
provides a powerful messaging system for Service Providers operating traditional, next-generation or hybrid networks."
VoiceXML-based Telephony User Interfaces (TUIs) can easily be customized to provide tailored functionality.
For example, in a voicemail environment, a Service Provider may choose to provide TUIs tailored for particular
subscriber groups, or to implement a menu structure that exactly replicates a legacy voicemail system so that
users do not need to be re-educated. An open, VoiceXML-based solution allows for an easy and efficient integration
of a broad range of features and functionality, allowing for flexibility in the choice of equipment within
the Service Provider's network and the effective offering of value-added messaging services to consumers,
businesses and virtual ISPs.
