NGN ARCHITECTURE
Service providers migrating to a fully converged softswitch-based
next generation network with a distributed call agent and media / signaling
gateway architecture should consider MetaSwitch as a key component in their
strategy.
MetaSwitch allows service providers to migrate smoothly to a full next generation architecture
MetaSwitch's Class 4/5 Softswitch design incorporates call
agent, signaling gateway and media gateway functionality. The same platform
can be easily deployed in either an integrated single chassis (Integrated Softswitch) or a distributed
softswitch architecture (or migrated from one to the other). This allows
service providers to deploy a packet network with distributed softswitch
control right away - or start out with a traditional architecture, and steadily
migrate over time to a next generation network.
MetaSwitch's Class 4/5 Softswitch is available in both a single-chassis Integrated Softswitch and
fully distributed models
MetaSwitch supports open standards for softswitch networks,
including the Multiservice Switching Forum (MSF) Release 3 Architecture
Guidelines. We also work closely through industry
groups and our active partnership
program to ensure ongoing end-to-end interoperability.
NEW SERVICES
Central to the value proposition of next generation networks
is the ability to innovate with new services in an open application creation
environment.
MetaSwitch's SIP feature server interface is
key to enabling enhanced services with MetaSwitch's own MetaSphere Application Suite, or third party application
servers. Revenue-generating applications such as unified messaging, conferencing
and Web-based call management can all be supported, in addition to the 100+
native Class 4/5 features delivered by the MetaSwitch call agent.
