The MetaSphere Privacy Defender is a perfect solution to the problem of intrusive anonymous calls and phone solicitations. By offering subscribers granular control of how their phone system reacts when a call comes in from an unrecognized or blocked number, Privacy Defender saves subscribers' time and eliminates unnecessary aggravation.
Privacy Defender eliminates nuisance calls by ensuring that
all callers are identifiable. If no caller ID is available on an incoming
call, then the Privacy Defender service
answers with a challenge before the subscriber's telephone rings. The caller
is presented with the opportunity to record his or her name and request
to be connected. In this case, the subscriber's phone rings, and when it
is picked up, the caller's name is announced. The subscriber than has the
opportunity
to accept the call, play a message informing the caller that this subscriber
does not accept telemarketing calls and asking to be removed from his or
her
calling list, or play a message informing the caller that the subscriber
cannot accept the call at this time and to please call back later.
As with other MetaSphere applications, Privacy Defender is built on SIP interfaces
in MetaSwitch's IMS architectural framework, avoiding the use of costly TDM ports, typical in traditional AIN-based solutions.
