Local Calling Features
Most residential subscribers only use a few local calling features, but in any given market there will be a significant number who rely on some feature that they have always had from their local phone company - and who could become highly dissatisfied if their service provider were not able to support this feature. That's why a rich and comprehensive local calling feature set is absolutely essential for addressing the residential and consumer market.
MetaSphere supports all of the local calling features that are ever likely to be needed by residential subscribers - not just the obvious ones like Caller ID, Call Waiting and Call Forwarding. Subscribers can control their features in the familiar way over the telephone interface, for example by dialing a feature code such as *77 to activate Anonymous Call Rejection, so they have nothing new to learn when they get their phone service from a MetaSphere system. But in addition, subscribers can use the Web interface provided by CommPortal for even easier access to their calling features and service settings. They can even use CommPortal to sign up for new calling features, with instant automated activation of the service they’ve requested.
Local calling features supported by MetaSphere work the same on any kind of phone and on any type of network connection. From basic phones connected to POTS lines to VoIP phones connected via SIP over broadband, subscribers enjoy the same set of local calling features and the same consistent user interface.
