Management Applications

The SNAP-IX node provides IBM network management Service Point support. A NetView operator can remotely control the node using the Service Point Command Facility, or can issue UNIX commands on the SNAP-IX computer using the UNIX Command Facility.

Link alerts and pre-defined 3270 user alerts can be reported to a NetView host. Generated alerts are stored locally while the NetView host is off-line.

Applications can communicate with other network management applications by sending and receiving NMVTs or MDS_MUs, using the Management Services (MS) API.
