Motif Administration Program
The Motif administration program
provides complete system administration facilities in a single
easy-to-use windowed tool for Motif displays.
The program provides simple,
single-point control over a SNAP-IX system, allowing the system
administrator to configure, manage, and diagnose problems in the
entire SNAP-IX system from a single terminal session.
Using the program, the operator
can:
- set up the initial
configuration of an SNA system, or change the
configuration dynamically as required
- determine which services
and users are currently active, and when they were
started
- determine the status of
LUs, sessions, and connectivity resources
- activate and deactivate
resources
- control the level and
type of diagnostic information generated by the system,
and the file or files to which it should be written.
"List boxes" simplify
the presentation and selection of valid alternatives.
All dialogs provide
context-specific on-line help for the fields on the dialog, and
all error and warning popups have help which provides cause and
recommended actions for the error.
The command-line administration
program allows individual configuration and management operations
to be initiated from the UNIX shell. This permits groups of
common operations to be automated using a shell script.
The program provides access to the
same functions as the Motif administration program.
