Fujitsu and MetaSwitch Announce Demonstration of Centrex-Featured VoIP Services at VoIP for Business 2007

Demonstrating the benefits of the VoIP service for SMEs

Birmingham, UK and London, UK, March 23, 2007. Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd, the leading supplier of high performance telecommunications solutions, and MetaSwitch announced the demonstration earlier this week by BT of hosted business VoIP services from the platform supplied by Fujitsu and MetaSwitch. The demonstration took place at VoIP for Business 2007, Olympia, in London (March 21-22, 2007).

BT's demonstration showed the benefits that Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) can obtain from Voice over IP. As a replacement for traditional telephony systems of up to 10 extensions, BT can offer a featured business solution with low capital costs, future-proof facilities and full mobility and flexibility in accessing communications services.

"BT is among the first major operators offering a comprehensive VoIP solution for SME customers", commented Taron Maberry, BT's Head of Business Services - Future Voice. "Our close working relationship with Fujitsu and MetaSwitch enables us to deploy new features, such as IP Centrex services, very quickly on the platform when they are needed and in a way that is fully compatible with our business needs as an operator."

Commenting for Fujitsu, Director of Multimedia Products and Services Nigel Garnham said: "Fujitsu is very pleased to be assisting BT to generate further success in the Voice over IP market. Our role as a major supplier of next generation network technology is fundamentally enhanced by the ability to offer a fully featured Voice over IP platform in conjunction with our partners at MetaSwitch. We look forward to working closely with BT as the service develops over the coming months."

"BT is a world-renowned proving ground to show how carriers can leverage innovative technology to drive new revenue", said John Lazar, CEO of MetaSwitch. "MetaSwitch, with our partner Fujitsu, is committed to helping our carrier partners successfully deploy innovative IP-based services."
