MetaSwitch Gains 14 Interoperability Partners in Three Months

Just three months after the launch of its Interoperability Partner Program, MetaSwitch today announced that 14 broadband voice vendors have now completed interoperability testing with its VP3000 Broadband Voice Platform and signed up to the program.
As a result, service providers can deploy residential and business telephone services today based on the VP3000's Class 5 softswitch platform and proven interoperability with the widest-ever range of Customer Premises and Edge Access Equipment.
The complete list of MetaSwitch Interoperability Partners now includes 2Wire, 3Com, ADTRAN, Avail Networks, Celsian Technologies, Efficient Networks, Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe, Ishoni Networks, Mitel Networks, Netopia, Polycom, Vina Technologies, Virata and XAVi. MetaSwitch has also completed interoperability testing with broadband multiplexers and DSLAMs from Alcatel, Avail, Fujtisu, Lucent and Paradyne.
Under the terms of the program, partners commit to ongoing interoperability based on open standards, and to working co-operatively to provide support to customers in the event of any interoperability issues. In contrast to proprietary solutions which lock customers into a single vendor, MetaSwitch and its partners are committed to a multi-vendor next-generation network strategy, enabling service providers to select the combination of equipment that best suits their target market.

All of the partner vendors have completed interoperability testing at MetaSwitch's labs in the US or UK, using MetaSwitch's detailed and rigorous test specification, based on work done within OpenVoB (www.openvob.com), an industry consortium dedicated to accelerating the deployment of Voice over Broadband. The MetaSwitch test plan covers a wide range of broadband voice function, from basic call operation through to voice quality and subscriber services such as Caller ID and Call Waiting.
