SaskTel Selects MetaSwitch for NGN Trial

REGINA, Saskatchewan & ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 2000--SaskTel and MetaSwitch today announced that SaskTel has selected MetaSwitch as the switch supplier for its internal Next Generation Network (NGN) trial.
The SaskTel trial is a wide-ranging evaluation of NGN technologies, including broadband switching, service creation, enhanced services (such as directory, messaging and conferencing), and management and operations, looking at how NGN technologies integrate with the existing network infrastructure, and how they facilitate a controlled migration to Voice over Packet (VoP) and distributed next generation networks. SaskTel expects a successful trial to pave the way towards deployment of NGN and VoP based services within its network.
