Video Messaging
Built on the MetaSphere multimedia telephony application server (MTAS), Video Messaging complements and broadens any enterprise or residential unified messaging service, deriving additional monthly subscriptions and usage revenues for carriers while enriching the communications experience for their subscribers.
Leveraging H.264/MPEG-4 advanced video coding and compression, the MetaSphere Video Messaging offering is compatible with any standards-compliant video endpoint, such as CommPortal Communicator Desktop from Metaswitch.
As with its audio-only counterpart, customers can record their own personal video greeting, which is played to any video callers who are transferred to the MetaSphere mailbox. Once deposited, video mail messages are listed, together with standard voicemails, on CommPortal Web, CommPortal Assistant and CommPortal Mobile unified messaging and control interfaces. Once selected, these messages can be played back directly from any one of those applications. All Video Messaging functions are exposed through the CommPortal applications programming interface (API).
Commensurate with the MetaSphere Voicemail offering, text-to-speech transcription is also available as a cloud-based addition to the Video Messaging service. Enabling ubiquitous access to these messages, all video mails can be forwarded automatically, or on-demand, to an email address and viewed on any mobile or desktop device using a standard media player.
