Technical Marketing Engineer (UK or APAC)

The Opportunity

As Metaswitch’s mobile operator base continues to grow worldwide, we are expanding the expertise in our Mobile Product Management team.  We are looking to recruit an experienced Technical Marketing Engineer to work with our customers and R&D team to help define the future of the VoLTE technology and the services that can be built on top of our Open Services Creation TAS .

The successful candidate would ideally be based in the UK or the APAC region, but we can be flexible on this point. 

Responsibilities  

  • Communicate Metaswitch VoLTE solution architecture, differentiators, network integration points, to potential customers (typically Engineering and CTO teams) worldwide
  • Create technical architecture documents to assist in pre-sales opportunities to convince the operator we have the know-how and expertise and experience to deploy complex networks
  • Work closely with R&D to understand and manage costs and to prioritize and shift development as needed
  • Work closely with sales and solution marketing to support customer education, engagement and development 
  • Support sales engineering and sales operations with all RFx responses and bid management (dimensioning and pricing) 
  • Customer commitment registrar must be created and maintained to ensure roadmap meets RFx commitments and is always reflecting customer needs and wants 

The successful candidate will initially spend a period learning about our product set, but will then quickly be expected to play an active role in the Product Management and Marketing organisation and also working directly with our customers on large, complex projects that are vital to their business success.  

Qualifications and Experience

For this position, we need someone who has

  • Strong technical knowledge and understands the mobile voice/messaging and VAS space, along with the business trends and business models and constraints/opportunities for mobile operators
  • Prior technical experience working in the Mobile industry, either at a vendor or a service provider
  • In-depth knowledge of IP Networking, switching, routing and Mobile (GSM/UMTS MSC and Evolved Packet Core and VoLTE/VoWifi along with the relevant 3GPP standards) networks.
  • Thorough knowledge of SIP, IMS architecture, CAMEL and MSC interworking.
  • Prior Product Management experience a plus
  • an aptitude for understanding and solving complex problems
  • energy, enthusiasm, versatility and creativity
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience in the following areas and technologies are highly desirable

  •  virtualization and NFVi
  • experience working with Tier 1 mobile operators.

Location                                

The successful candidate would ideally be based in the UK or the APAC region, but we can be flexible on this point.
