Integra5 and MetaSwitch Deliver Multimedia-Enhanced IMS Applications

Integra5's i5 Service Delivery Platform and MetaSwitch's Multimedia-Enhanced Telephony Architecture Future-Proof Service Provider Networks with Revenue Generating Content and Converged Communications

Burlington, MA: March 16, 2006. Integra5 Communications, the pioneer in personalized IP content and converged communications and MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next-generation carrier switching and applications solutions, today announced that the i5 Service Delivery Platform (SDP) has been certified as interoperable with MetaSwitch's multimedia-enhanced telephony solutions following joint interoperability testing. Both vendors' solutions support a migration towards the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture across cable and telecom environments.

Their solutions are on display at Spring VON, March 15-17, 2006 in San Jose, Calif. MetaSwitch is in booth 1609; Integra5 is in booth 1738.

Together, MetaSwitch and Integra5 allow service providers to deliver a wide range of VoIP, legacy TDM and next-generation multimedia-enhanced IP services to subscribers, without costly upgrades to their networks. The combined solution provides a standards-based, scalable infrastructure equipped to deliver converged consumer applications such as TV & PC Caller ID, Personalized Content Alerts, and Voicemail Message Waiting which seamlessly combine voice, video, data and mobile content now and into the future.

"The convergence of quad-play services over a single connection is set to play an integral role in building the digital home, and enabling that vision is what our multimedia-enabled telephony architecture is all about," said Chris Mairs, MetaSwitch Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development. "We believe that Integra5 is well-positioned to capitalize on this market opportunity with its innovative i5 SDP and suite of converged consumer applications, and are thrilled to bring our combined vision and technology to service providers."

MetaSwitch's multimedia-enhanced switching and application solutions deliver unparalleled calling features and routing capabilities in a true carrier-class platform. Ranging from a rapidly-deployable single-chassis softswitch up to a fully distributed 500,000-subscriber network, MetaSwitch scales to fit service provider networks of every size. MetaSwitch's implementation of IMS, known as the Multimedia-Enhanced Telephony Architecture (META), delivers Serving Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF), SIP Application Server (SIP-AS), Multimedia Resource Function (MRF), Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF), Media Gateway (MGW), and Signaling Gateway (SGW) functions.

The i5 SDP features patented technology and is based on a distributed, network-based architecture. The architecture enables real-time delivery of content across triple- and quadruple-play services including mobile, high-speed Internet, telephony and television. Moreover, it supports scalability up to millions of subscribers, and across multiple set-top boxes, PCs and telephone lines within the home.

The i5 SDP and MetaSwitch's META solutions are complementary technologies that enable service providers to quickly and easily deploy new IP-based applications to end-users, without requiring allegiance to a set-top box. Service Providers deploy the i5 SDP in its head end where the platform takes in telephony data from MetaSwitch, associates the appropriate complementary web and media server-based content, then combines them to create application display information and send it to the appropriate customer's IP device (TV, PC).

"MetaSwitch has tremendous mindshare among service providers for its highly scalable, open, distributed softswitch architecture," said Meredith Flynn Ripley, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Integra5. "Together with the modular, standards-based i5 SDP, our existing and potential customers have a clear migration path to a next-generation IMS network without worrying about integration issues, and the opportunity to quickly and delivery new and innovative converged services that reduce customer churn and increase ARPU."
