MetaSwitch Enhances IMS Application Server with Auto Attendant and Privacy Defender

Class 5 Softswitch Vendor Delivers on Commitment to Continue Expanding UC9000 Unified Communications Platform

Boston, MA - VON Fall Conference and Expo: September 20, 2005. MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next generation carrier switching solutions, today announced two extensions to its widely-deployed IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) application server, the UC9000 Unified Communications System.

  • UC9000 Auto Attendant offers state-of-the-art automated receptionist functions including dial-by-name directory, customizable business hours, holidays, menus and announcements, and graphical activity reports. Since it is fully integrated with UC9000 Web Self-Care, Auto Attendant can be configured via an easy-to-use web interface, giving office administrators complete control over their business group settings.
  • UC9000 Privacy Defender provides an advanced call screening service. Anonymous callers to subscribers with the service enabled are prompted to provide their name. The subscriber is then offered the opportunity to accept or reject the call.

The new applications are entirely built on SIP standards within the IMS architectural framework, and come pre-installed on industry-standard servers provided by MetaSwitch.

"MetaSwitch is committed to IMS as the industry's open applications environment for both wireline and wireless networks," said Martin Taylor, MetaSwitch Vice President of Technology Strategy. "With the UC9000's existing Unified Messaging capabilities, and the ground-breaking Desktop Assistant that we also announced today, MetaSwitch has now clearly established itself as a technology leader in both the switching and applications planes."
