Metaswitch Networks Adds Expertise to CloudNFV

Project Clearwater to be part of the multi-vendor virtual network function demonstrations

LONDON, August 21, 2013 - Metaswitch Networks today announced it has become the first integration partner named as part ofCloudNFV.

Metaswitch will be providing support for Project Clearwater as part of CloudNFV's larger technology demonstration framework. Project Clearwater, an open source effort supported by Metaswitch, is often described as what a real virtualized network function should look like in service provider networks.

"We're pleased to have Metaswitch as our first official integration partner for CloudNFV," says Tom Nolle, president of CIMI Corp. and the architect of CloudNFV. "What attracted us to Project Clearwater was the fact that it was at the leading edge of cloud-hosted network function design, a real prototype of how cloud-based network functionality will be built in the future."

"It's great to be working with the CloudNFV team and supporting the ongoing research into the implementation of NFV and cloud-based applications in service provider networks," says Martin Taylor, Metaswitch's chief technical officer. "Project Clearwater is already enjoying operator interest and support in various regions around the world, and Metaswitch is eager to help as these companies make moves toward becoming software telcos."
