Metaswitch Recognized as Global Market Leader in Virtualized SBC

Award-winning Perimeta vSBC enabled 43.5 percent of global virtual sessions in 2015

Network software provider Metaswitch Networks® is the market leader in global shipments of virtualized session border controllers (vSBCs) according to Synergy Research Group’s Q4 2015 Infrastructure Market Tracker-SBC Market Share Report. Metaswitch’s flagship Perimeta product shipped 43.5 percent of global virtual sessions, more than twice that of its closest competitor.

“Our research shows that while others, including Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, Oracle/Acme Packet, Sonus and ZTE continue to develop and deliver on their NFV capabilities, Metaswitch’s early move on SBC virtualization has provided a first-to-market advantage for them,” said Jeremy Duke, founder and chief analyst of Synergy Research. “In 2015, Synergy Research measured Metaswitch outshipping their competitors by a wide margin for this new class of SBC.”

Perimeta is the world’s first software-based, carrier-class SBC and is the first VNF (virtualized network function) carrier-class SBC proven to deliver the security and performance demanded of new cloud environments, as well as large-scale real-time communications services. Its powerful real-time diagnostics and analytics provide a level of visibility previously unavailable to network operators.

Perimeta is currently in use by a wide range of forward-thinking telecommunications providers across the globe, including AT&T, BT One Phone, Optivon, TelAlaska, Tiscali and Vip mobile.

“Our leadership in this market is driven by our ability to easily integrate Perimeta in any operator’s virtualized environment, helping them to deploy more cost-effective and secure networks with unmatched traffic visibility and analytics,” said Micaela Giuhat, vice president of product line management at Metaswitch. “Perimeta liberates carriers from outdated hardware-based deployment models, driving savings in capex and opex and giving them more flexible networks over which they can launch innovative new applications and services more quickly.”
