MetaSwitch Solutions Power Fujitsu's IEC Award-Winning Managed VoIP Service

Fujitsu receives International Engineering Consortium's InfoVision honor in recognition of UK’s first commercially available managed voice solution for large organizations

Alameda, CA: November 20, 2006. MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next-generation carrier switching and application solutions, is proud to play a central role in Fujitsu Services' recent success in the 2006 International Engineering Consortium's (IEC) InfoVision Awards, held at the Broadband World Forum Europe Conference in Paris. The IEC recognized Fujitsu in the 'Network and Services Management and Operations' category for its innovative Managed Voice over IP (VoIP) Service, the UK's first commercially available voice solution for large corporate and public sector enterprises seeking to reduce the cost and complexity of their communications infrastructure.

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to catalyzing technology and business progress worldwide in a range of high-technology industries and their university communities. The IEC's prestigious InfoVision Award recognizes innovative technologies, applications, products and services judged by a panel of industry experts to be significant developments for businesses and consumers alike.

Fujitsu launched its Managed VoIP Service in May 2006 for medium and large companies. It provides a low cost and efficient means of complementing or replacing traditional phone systems, leading to a better range of services and greater organizational flexibility. While developing its Managed VoIP Service, Fujitsu was focused on removing the risk and costs normally associated with competitive solutions. As a result, and in contrast to traditional high capital spend models currently available, Fujitsu's VoIP service is offered on a Per User Per Month (PUPM) basis which guarantees predictable expenditure.

"We congratulate Fujitsu on this notable award and commend the company for creating a service that offers one of the European telecommunications industry's most rapid returns on investment," said Andrew Randall, vice president of marketing at MetaSwitch, provider of the powerful media gateways and call servers that were a major component of the Fujitsu solution. "The business telecommunications market is demanding exactly this type of flexible, low-cost solution, and MetaSwitch will be a key participant in many similar implementations."

"Our service is completely transparent from a cost point of view, as well as being flexible, resilient, secure and scalable," said Stuart Ebdon, head of vendor strategy at Fujitsu Services. "The InfoVision Awards is a very welcome endorsement of Fujitsu's belief in the future of VoIP services, and of our selection of MetaSwitch as the leading Voice over IP platform on the market today."
