MetaSwitch Surpasses Century Mark With Fast-Growing CLEC Customer Base

Competitive carriers continue to choose powerful MetaSwitch infrastructure and applications to build differentiated services and drive revenue

COMPTEL PLUS. Dallas, TX: October 9, 2007. More than 100 Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) are now among the customers of MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of carrier-class softswitch and applications solutions. CLECs have selected the company's softswitch architecture and associated products to deploy advanced services and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Recent MetaSwitch customers who helped the softswitch innovator pass the 100 CLEC milestone include Broadview Networks. CLECs focus on delivering quality service for their customers, maximizing operational efficiency and consistently generating new revenues. A steady flow of CLECs are choosing MetaSwitch, leveraging the company's core switching, MetaSphere Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and application suite for quick deployment of high-value services and an increase in bottom-line profitability.

"As a CLEC serving 20 markets, including all major metro areas, in the communications-intensive Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, we continually evolve our network and services to provide over 75,000 small and medium-size business customers with the total solution to their communications needs, including a full suite of IP based communications and managed services," said Ken Shulman, Broadview Networks' chief technology and chief information officer. "Deployed in 2006, the MetaSwitch VP Series softswitch provided the deployment flexibility, robust feature set and evolutionary path necessary to form the core platform to meet our current and future needs cost effectively and rapidly across our entire footprint. In addition, the MetaSwitch team has proven to be a true partner throughout the process."

Broadview joins many other notable carriers who have made the decision to stake their businesses on powerful MetaSwitch technology. Other large, successful CLECs who have built upon a MetaSwitch foundation are One Communications and TelePacific.

"At One Communications, we pride ourselves on our ability to consistently deliver superior products and services using the latest in cutting-edge technology," explained Russ Oliver, executive vice president of strategy at One Communications. "MetaSwitch is a critical component in engineering the best-in-class, highly scalable network needed to deliver first-class communications services to our more than 160,000 customers."

Russell Shipley, senior vice president, wholesale and network services for TelePacific Communications, said: "TelePacific is pleased with our MetaSwitch deployment and the relationships between our companies. Our partnership is a result of TelePacific's strategic acquisition of Arrival Communications, where MetaSwitch technology had been in production for several years. We are very happy with the dedication of MetaSwitch toward best-of-breed technical support and products. The cost efficient and full featured VP3510, which we have deployed in a fully redundant, geographically distributed architecture, has become a cornerstone element in the growth and evolution of the TelePacific network."

MetaSwitch recently unveiled MetaSphere, an application suite and service delivery platform, enabling carriers to streamline development and delivery of advanced services across multiple media types and end user devices.

"With next generation infrastructure from MetaSwitch, there is huge opportunity for CLECs to deliver competitively priced applications to customers who have been underserved by incumbent carriers," said Graeme MacArthur, MetaSwitch chief executive officer. "We can enable CLECs to quickly rollout offerings such as Web-based control of phone services or low cost phone/Internet bundles."
