Telecom Argentina Makes the Call

Selects Metaswitch hosted PBX solution for nationwide business service

Metaswitch Forum 2010, Orlando, September 22, 2010Metaswitch Networks, a leading provider of carrier systems and communications software solutions, today announced that Telecom Argentina, one of the largest incumbent telecommunications providers in Argentina, has selected Metaswitch's MetaSphere platform to deliver a fully-featured SIP Trunking and Hosted PBX service to enterprise customers.

With almost 20 years serving the Argentinean community, Telecom provides over 20 million lines of voice, data, Internet and wireless telecommunication services to all of Buenos Aires and the northern part of Argentina. A forward thinking service provider, with both wireline and wireless assets, Telecom has built a strong reputation since its formation under the privatization of the previously government-owned network. Keen to maintain its reputation and profitability, Telecom insists on operating state of the art, cost-effective networks.

"After evaluating many vendors, we selected the Hosted PBX Solution from Metaswitch because it includes a wide variety of advanced services that our business customers can benefit from today," said Néstor Rejas, SMB marketing manager of Telecom Argentina. "Our subscribers will now be able to self-manage services across multiple devices, improve productivity with auto-attendant features and route calls effectively at any time of day."

In this hotly contested market, Telecom searched for a vendor that would enable them to leapfrog the competition with a combination of broad service offerings and cost-efficient infrastructure. The Metaswitch solution offered more features than competing product sets and provided an opportunity for Telecom to help its business customers reduce the capital expense of key systems and PBX equipment. Delivering a full suite of both voice and data services across broadband networks, Telecom satisfies its customers with a combination of bandwidth efficiency, service integration and advanced subscriber provisioning and service management capabilities.

"Our award-winning technology will provide Telecom with new revenue from a comprehensive array of reliable, next-generation voice services," said René Méndez, vice president of Latin America for Metaswitch. "We're excited to serve this valued customer and are honored that they chose to Make the Call with Metaswitch."
