Multi-booth VoIP Demonstration at SuperComm Showcases MetaSwitch VP3510 Class 5 Softswitch

Partners across the show floor team up with MetaSwitch to demonstrate end-to-end VoIP interoperability

Alameda, CA: June 21, 2004. Following the recent introduction of key enhancements to its Class 5 softswitch, MetaSwitch today revealed that it will be the centerpiece of a multi-vendor Voice over IP demonstration at SuperComm 2004. The hub of VoIP connections across the show floor, MetaSwitch's VP3510 Class 5 Softswitch will provide subscriber services and SS7-to-VoIP gateway functions to partners in 7 booths. This marks the first public display of the VP3510 chassis, the latest addition to the widely-deployed VP3500 product line.

Partners participating in the demonstration include CIENA (booth #24815), Data Connection (booth #12923), Encore Networks (booth #11050), Kagoor Networks (booth #28332), Occam Networks (booth #21713) and Verilink (booth #10823). In addition, MetaSwitch will be interoperating with several other vendors as part of the pulver.com SIPop! pavilion, showing a variety of SIP-based applications including IP Centrex, Unified Messaging and Conferencing.

On the MetaSwitch booth itself (#12420), demonstrations will be given of IP Centrex using SIP phones together with MetaSwitch's Web Self-Care application that allows subscribers to control business group lines via the Web. MetaSwitch will also be demonstrating its SIP feature server interface, with unified messaging from parent company Data Connection. This provides a range of messaging options, from "vanilla" voicemail through to true unified messaging, where a single mailbox combines email, voice and fax messages, universally accessible from phone (using text-to-speech), web and standard email clients.

"Multi-vendor interoperability is key to our ability to meet service providers' requirements for working end-to-end solutions," said John Nevius, Partner Program Manager at MetaSwitch. "The demonstrations we are hosting right across the SuperComm show floor reflect the reality of our mature technology and strong interoperability partnerships. With over 25 partners in more than 50 deployments, and VoIP shipping for two years, MetaSwitch is delivering on the softswitch promise today."

"The introduction of the VP3510 is a significant step for MetaSwitch, as its enhanced scalability and flexibility are designed to appeal to a broader range of carriers," said Joe McGarvey, senior analyst at Current Analysis, Inc. "A multi-vendor, multi-booth demonstration at SuperComm, coming on top of the recent announcement of their 50th deployment, is a strong validation of MetaSwitch's proven ability to deliver working Class 5 Softswitch solutions."
