The IM-SSF application enables access to the existing CAMEL service environment from the IMS — so that IMS users can use services implemented on the IN.
One of the challenges operators have in introducing the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the cost and risk of introducing something new into an existing network that already includes a vast array of revenue-generating services. Operators cannot afford the time or cost needed to re-platform their entire service portfolio when they introduce IMS, and certainly their IMS subscribers will not accept a reduction in the number and quality of services.
The IM-SSF application addresses this migration problem by allowing access to the existing CAMEL service environment from the IMS — so that IMS users can use services implemented on the IN.
Network Operator Benefits:
- IM-SSF helps reduce the cost and time-to-market for IMS roll-out.
- It enables customers to adopt IMS without reducing service choice, and provides a broader array of service for new subscribers, and provides the basis for retaining existing subscribers, attracting new subscribers, and defending ARPU.
- Stimulating migration to IMS enables more subscribers to take up new IMS based services – thus providing an opportunity for ARPU growth.
