Developed by a Rhino TAS customer.
This application enables subscribers to call a user of an internet VoIP service (such as Skype) from their mobile. Sometimes called: Mobile call to internet softphone.
This service enables subscribers to reach their VoIP connected contacts from their mobile – without needing a separate data contract, and with potential to reduce call costs. Particularly beneficial for contacts overseas as the international call costs are eliminated.
Using a handset app or SMS, the subscriber can identify the service and provide the user name they wish to call – and can specify whether or not they want video as well as voice. The VoIP Service Connect application then sets up a call between the VoIP service user and the mobile subscriber.
Several Rhino TAS operator customers have implemented this or close variants of this service.
