LOS ALTOS, Calif. – October 22, 2019 – Cloud native communications software leader Metaswitch today announced that Allstream, a leader in business communications throughout North America, has selected its Perimeta SBC and Call Guardian Authentication Hub to enable the fastest and most cost effective path to deploy the STIR/SHAKEN compliant call authentication framework and analytics-based robocall prevention solution. Allstream will be one of the first cross-border providers to embrace and utilize the STIR/SHAKEN protocol and is encouraging the rest of the US and Canadian industry to accelerate the move from time division multiplexing (TDM), to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based communications, with the goal of all carriers being able to interconnect and be STIR/SHAKEN compliant.

“The combination of STIR/SHAKEN and analytics is critical to protect our subscribers and restore trust in voice calling,” said Stephen Fisher, Chief Operating Officer at Allstream. “Instead of spending months on interoperability testing and other cost-intensive components of a STIR/SHAKEN implementation and deployment, we are now able to deploy the Call Guardian Authentication Hub in a matter of days with our SIP-based network.”

Allstream’s offerings include a range of innovative, highly scalable, managed services including voice, internet and connectivity solutions for enterprise customers. “Deploying the Call Guardian Authentication Hub will help us, at Allstream, deliver on our purpose of simplifying our customers’ business communications and helping our customers accelerate their businesses,” said Fisher. Allstream is a competitive North American service provider and plans to have STIR/SHAKEN implemented across the border across one unified seamless network.

Call Guardian Authentication Hub is a fully managed service developed by Metaswitch and Transaction Network Services (TNS).  It combines  the TNS Call Guardian analytics and robocall detection solution used by leading U.S. wireless and landline service providers with Metaswitch’s STIR/SHAKEN compliant QCall solution.  Call Guardian leverages TNS’ visibility into more than one billion call events daily resulting from TNS’ connectivity with more than 500 North American carriers.

“Easy, effective implementation of STIR/SHAKEN is a priority in industry efforts to mitigate the serious problem of unwanted robocalling,” said Joe Weeden, VP, Product Management at Metaswitch. “We applaud Allstream’s commitment to advancing this industry-led initiative, which is critical to maintaining trust among its subscribers in Canada and the United States.”
